Australian GDP rose 0.4 percent in the June quarter and 2.1 percent from a year earlier. Private business investment fell 0.5 percent.
Japan's monetary base averaged 543.0 trillion yen in August, down 15.7 percent from a year earlier. Current-account balances at the Bank of Japan fell 18.9 percent.
U.S. employers reported 7.27 million job openings in July, up 89,000 from June. Hiring fell by 278,000, while quits declined by 157,000 and layoffs fell by 119,000.

UK goods exports fell £2.2bn, or 6.3 percent, in June to £33.0bn. Over Quarter 2 as a whole they rose £5.5bn, or 5.7 percent. The total trade deficit widened by £0.3bn to £8.0bn.
UK real GDP rose 0.4 percent in Quarter 2, after 0.6 percent in Quarter 1. The reported change in inventories was £1,880m; excluding alignment and balancing adjustments it was negative £1,382m.
