Switzerland's economy grew 1.5 percent in the second quarter after a 0.5 percent gain in the first, adjusted for sporting events.

The headline was already known.

Thursday's detailed release shows the composition. Chemical and pharmaceutical output rose 10.5 percent, lifting manufacturing by 4.5 percent and industry by 3.9 percent. Goods exports excluding valuables increased 5.5 percent.

Growth also reached the domestic economy. Final demand rose 0.5 percent, private consumption increased 0.3 percent and both construction and equipment investment advanced. Services grew 0.7 percent.

The 1.5 percent result is unchanged from the August flash estimate and is the strongest sport-adjusted quarterly growth since the third quarter of 2021. Without the sporting-event adjustment, GDP rose 1.9 percent.
