The publication
Money & World covers tax, accounting, finance, economics, technology, personal finance, small business, and the world events that move them. Alongside that national coverage, we run a dedicated Southwest Florida desk: the money, real estate, taxes, insurance, and cost of living of Naples and Collier County, Fort Myers and Lee County, and Cape Coral, Bonita Springs, Estero, Marco Island, Lehigh Acres, Fort Myers Beach, and North Fort Myers.
We report original analysis on policy and markets, and we track what the reporters breaking news across this beat are finding, credit them by name, and link the documents underneath their work.
Southwest Florida
Southwest Florida is one of the richest and fastest-growing markets in the country, and it is one of our most active beats. Our Southwest Florida desk reports the money of the region rather than general local news: property taxes and the Save Our Homes cap, the insurance market and Citizens rate filings, condominium and homeowners association law, real estate prices, county and city budgets, and the everyday cost of living from Naples to Cape Coral. We credit the local outlets whose reporting we build on, and we link the county and state records underneath every figure, so a reader can check a Collier or Lee number against the office that holds it. The desk lives at Southwest Florida, with hubs for each county and the major cities.
The publication is built on three commitments, and they are the whole of our editorial identity:
We say who found it first. When a story here originates in another newsroom's reporting, the reporter and the outlet are named in the first two sentences and linked. Not buried, not laundered into "reports say."
We link the document. Every story points at the primary source: the actual notice, filing, statement, or docket entry. Financial journalism runs on people describing documents to each other, and precision is lost at every retelling. We publish the last link in that chain and the first one together.
We answer what it changes. An event is not news because it occurred. It is news because of what it does to a mortgage, a payroll, a quarterly estimate, a balance sheet. Every story here ends with that answer.

How we are funded
Money & World is funded by its founder. There are no outside investors, no grants, no sponsors, and no advertisers. Nobody has paid us anything to publish anything, and there is nobody to whom we owe a favour.
We say this plainly because it is the strongest thing we can tell you about our independence, and because it may change. A publication has to pay for itself. If we take advertising, or sponsorship, or subscriptions, this page will say so before the first advertisement appears, not after somebody notices one.
What will not change is the rule on the Editorial Standards page: advertisers get no input into coverage, no advance sight of stories, and no influence over what we publish. If we ever cannot honour that, we will stop taking the money rather than quietly stop honouring the rule.

Our publisher has business interests outside this publication. They do not direct coverage and they do not receive advance sight of it.
