Euro area home-loan borrowing cost rises six basis points to 3.60 percent
The composite cost of new euro area home loans rose six basis points to 3.60 percent in August, the European Central Bank reported Thursday.
The increase was broad. Rates rose to 3.86 percent for floating loans and loans fixed for up to one year, and to 3.43 percent for loans fixed beyond ten years. The middle bands also moved higher or held close to July.
Consumer borrowing moved more. The rate on new household consumption loans increased 33 basis points to 7.92 percent.
Corporate borrowing was steadier. The composite rate on new company loans was nearly unchanged at 3.77 percent.
