Japan's current-account surplus rose 15.6 percent in July while its goods deficit more than doubled
Japan's current-account surplus rose 15.6 percent from a year earlier in July to ¥2.989tn, the Ministry of Finance and Bank of Japan reported Tuesday morning in Tokyo.
The goods account moved the other way. Its deficit more than doubled to ¥399.9bn from ¥187.7bn as exports rose 24.1 percent and imports increased 25.9 percent, according to the seven-page preliminary release.
Primary income supplied ¥4.290tn of surplus, up 5.8 percent. The services deficit narrowed 33.5 percent to ¥512.9bn.
