German factory orders rose 2.5 percent, but fell without large orders

German manufacturing orders rose 2.5 percent in July from June after seasonal and calendar adjustment, Destatis reported Friday. The increase was almost entirely attributable to large orders for ships, railway equipment and aircraft.

Without those large contracts, orders fell 1.4 percent.

The other transport equipment category rose 126.4 percent, while automotive orders dropped 12.5 percent. Domestic orders increased 9.1 percent. Foreign orders fell 2.1 percent, with a 12.1 percent rise from the euro area outweighed by a 10.1 percent decline from outside it.

Orders were 13.1 percent above July 2025 after calendar adjustment. June's monthly increase was revised to 3.7 percent from 3.1 percent.
