US import prices rose 0.3 percent in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. The larger number is the annual one. Over the 12 months through June, import prices climbed 7.1 percent, as the all-commodities index reached 150.8 from 140.8 a year earlier. The monthly gain followed a revised reading of 150.3 in May. The import price index measures what US buyers pay for foreign goods at the border and does not include tariffs or duties, so the increase reflects underlying prices rather than trade policy.
