Thirteen of 14 New Zealand industry groups increased seasonally adjusted sales in the June quarter, Stats NZ reported Tuesday. Rental, hiring and real estate services was the exception, down 0.4 percent. Nothing else fell.
Across the market industries in the release, sales reached NZ$214bn, up 8.9 percent from a year earlier, while purchases rose 10 percent to NZ$151bn and operating profit increased 7.9 percent to NZ$29bn.
Manufacturing sales rose 3.1 percent in value and 0.8 percent in volume from the March quarter. Wholesale sales increased 6.4 percent, including an 18 percent rise in basic materials that the agency said was influenced by petroleum product prices.
