US retail sales rose 0.2 percent in June, within the survey's margin of error
American shoppers held steady in June. Advance retail and food services sales were $768.6 billion, up 0.2 percent from May, the Census Bureau reported on Thursday. The change carries a margin of error of plus or minus 0.4 percent, which the bureau notes includes zero, so there is not enough statistical evidence to conclude sales rose at all. Measured against June 2025, sales were up 6.7 percent. May was revised higher, from 0.9 percent to 1.0 percent. Sales across the April to June quarter were up 6.4 percent from the same period a year earlier. The figures are not adjusted for inflation, so part of the annual gain reflects higher prices rather than more goods sold.
