AAA's national average for diesel reached $5.8500 a gallon on Friday, the highest figure in its table.

That is a 6.68 cent rise from Thursday's $5.7832 average. The weekly increase is 23.95 cents, from $5.6105, and the year over year increase is $2.1379, from $3.7121.

A 100 gallon purchase costs $23.95 more than it did a week ago at those averages. The comparison is arithmetic from AAA's figures, and any individual station price can differ.

This is a nominal record.

Regular gasoline remains below its own high. AAA put Friday's regular average at $4.1474 against a listed record of $5.0165 on June 14, 2022.
