The UK economy grew 0.7 percent in the three months to August compared with the preceding three months, the Office for National Statistics reported on Thursday. Services grew 0.9 percent while production fell 0.2 percent and construction contracted 1.0 percent.

August alone grew more slowly.

Output increased 0.1 percent from July, when it had risen 0.4 percent. Production rose 0.8 percent during August, services were unchanged and construction fell 0.2 percent.

The release also revised growth in each of the three-month periods ending in June and July to 0.5 percent from 0.4 percent. These are early estimates and can change as more data arrive.
