Korea's August current account surplus rises to $46.11bn as exports climb 82.1 percent
$46.11bn.
That is South Korea's preliminary current account surplus for August, according to data the Bank of Korea released Thursday. It rose from $42.08bn in July and $9.85bn a year earlier.
The goods balance contributed $46.81bn. Balance-of-payments exports reached $104.80bn, up 82.1 percent from August 2025, while imports rose 23.8 percent to $57.99bn. Services subtracted $1.68bn, led by deficits in other business services and travel. Primary income added $1.92bn.
Korean investors increased portfolio assets abroad by $16.60bn, including $10.15bn of equities. Foreign portfolio investment in Korea fell $4.85bn, with the debt securities line down $4.38bn.
The trade figure needs a boundary. Balance-of-payments data follow the change-of-ownership rule and are not the customs series. The same release puts customs exports at $98.28bn.
