Renewables supplied 59.1 percent of German grid power in the first half

Fifty-nine percent.
That was the renewable share of Germany's domestically generated grid power in the first half, up from 58.0 percent a year earlier, Destatis reported Tuesday. Total generation rose 4.5 percent to 230.6bn kilowatt-hours.
Wind remained the largest source at 67.7bn kilowatt-hours, up 12.3 percent. Coal supplied 49.4bn, down 0.5 percent. Solar rose 3.5 percent to 41.0bn, while gas increased 6.4 percent to 38.0bn.
Imports fell 8.7 percent and exports rose 14.9 percent. The net import surplus shrank from 8.3bn kilowatt-hours to 0.6bn.
The provisional series excludes household solar power consumed inside the home and electricity made and used within industrial plants.
