Industrial production rose 0.1 percent in June, the Federal Reserve reported. Manufacturing output was unchanged. Mining rose 0.4 percent and utilities rose 0.4 percent, so the small gain in the total index came from outside the factory sector rather than from within it. Capacity utilization held at 76.1 percent, still below its long-run average. The reading covers June, before oil prices climbed in early July, so any effect on refining and energy output will appear in later releases. Figures are from the Federal Reserve G.17 statistical release.
