OECD raises US growth forecasts to 2.2 and 2.1 percent
The OECD raised both US growth forecasts Wednesday. It now expects 2.2 percent in 2026 and 2.1 percent in 2027, according to the Korean finance ministry's official summary.
The June projections were 2.0 and 1.8 percent. The 2027 increase is 0.3 percentage points. That is the bigger change.
The global picture was mixed. World growth for 2026 rose 0.1 point to 2.9 percent, while the 2027 forecast slipped 0.1 point to 3.0 percent. G20 growth is forecast at 3.1 and 3.0 percent.
Inflation moved higher. G20 consumer-price inflation is now projected at 4.1 percent this year and 3.6 percent next year. The OECD cited elevated international energy prices and named persistent energy gains, weather-related supply shocks and further increases in long-term bond yields among the downside risks.
