China keeps loan prime rates unchanged for a 16th straight fixing
Nothing moved. The National Interbank Funding Center left China's one-year loan prime rate at 3.0 percent and the over-five-year rate at 3.5 percent on Sunday.
The one-year rate is the reference for most bank lending, while the longer rate is used for mortgages. The center calculates each rate from quotes submitted by 20 banks under the People's Bank of China's framework.
The September fixing is the 16th in a row without a change. Both rates were cut by 10 basis points in May 2025, from 3.1 percent and 3.6 percent, and the official historical series shows no move since.
