New Zealand building work volume rose 4.8 percent after a quarterly decline

New Zealand's seasonally adjusted volume of building work rose 4.8 percent in the June quarter, Stats NZ reported Friday. That followed a 1.5 percent fall in the March quarter.

Both sides rose.

Residential building volume increased 4.8 percent, while non-residential volume rose 3.3 percent. The actual value of all building work was NZ$8.2bn, up 5.2 percent from the June 2025 quarter.

The mix was uneven. Residential work increased 11 percent by value to NZ$5.2bn, while non-residential work fell 3.4 percent to NZ$2.9bn. Stats NZ said the latest three quarters remain provisional and were updated for improved survey information.
