Another monthly decline hit French factories.

Manufacturing production fell 0.8 percent in July after a revised 1.0 percent drop in June, Insee reported Wednesday. Output across all industry fell 0.4 percent.

Transport equipment declined 2.8 percent. Electrical, electronic and computer equipment fell 0.8 percent, while food production was almost flat. Coke and refined petroleum rebounded 8.3 percent after a 12.4 percent fall.

Mining, energy and water output rose 0.9 percent and reached its highest level since November 2021, helped by electricity production during a July heatwave. Across May through July, total industrial output was 0.8 percent above a year earlier, but manufacturing was 0.4 percent lower.
