The weekly estimate rose again.

U.S. private employers added an estimated 12,000 jobs a week during the four weeks through August 22, ADP reported Wednesday. The seasonally adjusted average increased from 10,000 for the period through August 15 and 8,250 for July 25.

The series looks back two weeks so more payroll records can arrive. ADP said this edition is the first to incorporate first-quarter Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on August 28.

The estimate remains preliminary and can change as ADP adds records. It is separate from the monthly national employment report.
