USDA raises U.S. corn yield to 181.2 bushels an acre and ending stocks to 1.849bn bushels
USDA raised its 2026/27 U.S. corn production forecast by 234m bushels to 16.034bn Friday after lifting projected yield by 2.7 bushels an acre to 181.2.
The October crop outlook also incorporated the September 30 grain-stocks report, raising beginning stocks by 173m bushels to 2.095bn. Harvested area remained 88.5m acres.
Every use category increased. Feed and residual use rose 50m bushels, food, seed and industrial use gained 50m, and exports increased 25m.
Supply grew faster. USDA put ending stocks at 1.849bn bushels, 282m above its September forecast, and cut the projected season-average farm price by 10 cents to $4.70 a bushel.
