South Korea signs AI-hub agreements with EBRD and CABEI
South Korea signed agreements with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration to establish AI cooperation hubs in Korea, the finance ministry said on October 18.
The agreements were signed in Bangkok on October 16. They aim to connect Korean technology with the banks' development work and support AI adoption in developing countries.
The CABEI agreement covers an AI and digital transformation center. A separate agreement provides a legal basis for the bank's existing Korean office.
The EBRD hub would identify and connect AI projects. Finance Minister Lee Hyoung-il called for prompt follow-up on its establishment and operation.
No opening date was announced. The ministry also gave no funding total.
