The City of Marco Island has scheduled a water service interruption in the area of 631 Peru Street on Thursday, October 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to a post from the city's Water and Sewer Department on its live feed. WINK News reported the notice.

The city lists a precautionary boil water notice for the same area, in effect until residents are notified that it has been lifted. The post does not list the streets or number of homes affected.

The city's boil water guidance explains that a precautionary notice is issued when pressure in drinking water lines drops below 20 pounds per square inch, even when contamination is unlikely, and stays in place until laboratory tests confirm the water is safe. The city advises washing fruits, vegetables and other foods only with boiled or bottled water while a notice is in effect.

Residents with questions about whether their property is in the affected area can check the city's live feed or contact the city's Water and Sewer Department.
