NWS warns of 45 to 50 mph gusts from Marco Island to Alligator Alley

A National Weather Service Special Weather Statement warns of 45 to 50 mph wind gusts across parts of Collier County through 10:45 a.m. Thursday.

The alert names Marco Island, Everglades City, Plantation Island, Carnestown, Copeland, Royal Palm Hammock, Big Cypress National Preserve and part of Alligator Alley.

NWS says radar indicated gusty showers moving west at 35 mph. The wind could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Move loose outdoor items and seek shelter in a safe building until the showers pass. Drivers on Alligator Alley should be ready for sudden wind and rain.
