Gulf Coast News reporters Tyler Watkins and Madison Zaleski reported that Lee County sheriff's deputies arrested Eddie Ray Jordan II after accusing him of attacking another man with a pickaxe on Lake Avenue in Lehigh Acres.

According to the reporters' account of the sheriff's findings, deputies found Jordan with a gunshot wound to his right shin Monday night. LCSO said the other man shot Jordan after Jordan pushed the pickaxe into his back and threatened to strike him. The station reported that the man initially declined to seek charges, then changed course after another incident Wednesday.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office booking record confirms that Jordan, 55, was booked at 5:37 a.m. Thursday. It lists one aggravated battery with a deadly weapon count under case 26CF017183. The jail record lists him in custody without bond and gives an October 5 court date.

The charge and the sheriff's conduct account are allegations. Jordan is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. The outlet's report did not include a response from Jordan, and the sheriff's public booking record does not identify counsel.
