The City of Cape Coral opened a fourth precautionary boil water area after a water main break near 1221 SW 52nd Street Thursday afternoon.
The city logged the area shortly after 1:10 p.m. Its active map identifies drinking water as affected and carries no rescission date.
What residents should do
Bring tap water to a rolling boil for one minute before drinking it, cooking with it, making ice, preparing drinks or baby bottles, rinsing food, brushing teeth or washing dishes. Bottled water is an alternative.
Cape Coral says the precaution mainly applies to water that is swallowed. Showering and laundry are not restricted.
The city publishes a mapped boundary rather than a street list or household count. Anyone near 1221 SW 52nd Street should check the city map to see whether the notice covers the property.
The notice stays in place until the city posts a rescission.
