A water main break has put an area near 2409 Santa Barbara Boulevard South in Cape Coral under a precautionary boil water notice, according to the city utility map. The city added the area to its active list at 7:08 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, and had recorded no rescission as of 7:40 a.m.

The address identifies the advisory area on the map, not every affected property. Nearby customers should check their address against the mapped boundary.

Cape Coral directs affected customers to bring water for drinking and cooking to a rolling boil for one minute or to use bottled water until the notice is lifted. The city says showering and laundry are not restricted. A precautionary notice does not by itself mean the water is contaminated; the city lifts it once bacteriological samples tested by the Lee County Health Department come back satisfactory.

A separate notice near 256 SE Santa Barbara Place, added on October 19, also remains active on the city map.
