The patrol first classified the incident as a crash with injuries and a roadblock. Every westbound lane was blocked before the board changed the status to roadway clear. FHP later changed the incident classification to fatality.
Gulf Coast News reports that FHP identified the person killed as a pedestrian who was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead. The investigation remains open.
