Diplomat Parkway reopens after Cape Coral flooding, but police say water remains on the road and nearby side streets

Diplomat Parkway West has reopened between Santa Barbara Boulevard and NW 3rd Place after flooding closed the road Wednesday evening, but water remains in the area.
Cape Coral police said in a 10:23 p.m. update that water was still present on the parkway and nearby side streets remained flooded. The department told drivers to continue using caution.

The closure ended, but the hazard did not
The road reopening means through traffic can move again on Diplomat Parkway West. It does not mean surrounding streets are clear.
Drivers should avoid any side street covered by water. Water can hide a washed-out surface or a stalled vehicle hazard, and its depth is difficult to judge at night.
The National Weather Service had no active alert touching Lee or Collier counties at the closing check. This is a police-reported street flooding event, not an active Weather Service flood advisory.
