Cape Coral starts replacing 30 mph neighborhood signs with 25 mph signs

Cape Coral has started replacing 30 mph signs with 25 mph signs on applicable residential roads.

The city's September 22 notice says the work implements recommendations from its areawide neighborhood speed limit study. The city says the goal is to improve safety for drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists.

Cape Coral Police will issue warnings to drivers who exceed the new 25 mph limit during installation. The city says it will publish another notice when the warning period ends and citations begin.

The city did not publish a completion date or a list of every road covered. Drivers should follow the posted sign on the road they are using and use caution around sign crews.
