A National Weather Service Flood Advisory covered southwestern Lee County through 9:45 p.m. Saturday.
The Weather Service said Doppler radar indicated heavy rain at 7:41 p.m. Between 3 and 4 inches of rain had fallen, and another 1 to 2 inches was expected during the advisory period.
The alert said minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas was ongoing or expected to begin shortly. It said ponding was occurring or imminent in urban and other areas. Cape Coral, Iona, Matlacha Isles-Matlacha Shores and Punta Rassa were among the locations named.
Drivers should turn around rather than enter a flooded or water-covered road. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
