Marco Island police say a vehicle locked with a two-year-old, the keys and a phone inside while the child's parents loaded groceries at the South Barfield Drive Publix. Officers broke a window and safely removed the child.

Layza Pinero Resto of Gulf Coast News reported Saturday that Marco Island police rescued a two-year-old who became locked inside a vehicle at the Publix on South Barfield Drive.
The department's public account says the parents had placed the child inside the vehicle while they loaded groceries. The vehicle then locked with the child, the keys and a phone inside, and the parents immediately sought help.
Police say the child was not intentionally left or abandoned and that there was no wrongdoing by the parents.
Officers broke a window and safely removed the child. The department says the child was okay and that one officer sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The public post does not identify the child, the parents, the officer or the vehicle. It also does not say how long the child was inside or give an exact incident time.
The rescue was complete when police published the account, and the department reported no continuing hazard or public instruction. This brief therefore does not carry an active breaking flag.
