A precautionary boil water advisory is in effect for 970 customers in the Lake Fairways community in North Fort Myers. FGUA says affected customers should boil water used for drinking and cooking for one minute, or use bottled water, until the authority rescinds the advisory.

Blake Wallis of WINK News reported the advisory Monday morning. The Florida Governmental Utility Authority notice lists it as still in effect for 970 customers in the Lake Fairways community in North Fort Myers.
FGUA says a faulty valve required a temporary shutdown so crews could change the broken valve and replace a fire hydrant. Affected customers entered the precautionary advisory after service was restored.
What affected customers should do
Bring water used for drinking and cooking to a rolling boil for one minute, or use bottled water. The authority says samples will be tested by a Florida Department of Health certified laboratory before the advisory is rescinded.
FGUA says clearance is most likely by Wednesday, September 30. That is an estimate. Customers should keep following the boil water instruction until the authority posts an actual rescission.
