Vehicle fire closes Jolley Bridge northbound; Marco Island police say the driver is safe
Northbound Jolley Bridge is closed because of a vehicle fire at the top of the bridge. Marco Island police are diverting traffic back onto South Collier Boulevard and say the driver is safe.
Northbound Jolley Bridge is closed because of a vehicle fire at the top of the bridge, the Marco Island Police Department said Friday afternoon.
WINK News, in coverage credited to its digital team, reported the closure at 3:49 p.m. and updated its report at 4:51 p.m.
Police are sending northbound traffic back onto South Collier Boulevard. The department said the vehicle was fully engulfed and the driver got out safely.
No cause, vehicle description or reopening estimate has been released. Drivers should avoid the northbound bridge and follow directions from emergency personnel until police announce that the lanes have reopened.
