Estero adopts a $72.97 million budget with a $350,000 mismatch inside the final documents

In short

Estero Village Council adopted a $72,973,080 budget for fiscal 2026-27. The official budget summary assigns $54.28 million to capital projects. One attached resolution lists special-revenue spending at $2,619,130, $350,000 above the summary, even though both documents state the same total.

Estero Village Council adopted a $72,973,080 budget for fiscal 2026-27 on Wednesday, according to Resolution 2026-26 and the village's archived meeting.

The final documents agree on the total. They do not agree on one of the four spending categories that make up that total.

The official budget summary assigns $13,461,950 to the general fund, $2,269,130 to special revenue, $2,962,000 to debt service and $54,280,000 to capital projects. Those four figures add to $72,973,080.

The attached final resolution instead lists special-revenue spending at $2,619,130 while leaving the other three categories and the $72,973,080 total unchanged. Its four displayed components add to $73,323,080, creating a $350,000 mismatch.

The meeting's staff summary uses the lower $2,269,130 special-revenue figure, matching the budget summary and the stated total. The meeting record and attachments do not explain the conflicting figure in the resolution.

During the meeting, village staff said more than $54 million of the budget consists of capital-project carryforwards. Council then adopted the resolution by roll call. The budget takes effect for the fiscal year beginning October 1.

The village's July proposal carried different preliminary spending and borrowing assumptions. Money & World's earlier brief covered that proposal and the planned 0.7300-mill tax rate. Wednesday's action is the final budget vote.
