What it changes

If you are on Skyline Boulevard, Southwest 47th Terrace or the Cape Coral Parkway West stretch between them, you can stop boiling. The city rescinded the larger of the two areas at 7.15.59 on Tuesday morning and the smaller one fifteen seconds later at 7.16.14, and together they cover 469 active address points that had been under a precautionary instruction since Sunday. The two shapes do not overlap, so those figures add up rather than double count: 367 addresses in the 42.83 acre area around 909 Cape Coral Parkway West, and 102 more in the 9.74 acre corridor running east along Southwest 47th Terrace. A lot of that is not single houses. Ninety two of the points in the larger area are condominium records, in buildings the city lists as Malabar, Belvedere, Palm Breeze, Casa Del Sol, Baruna Bay and Skyline Manor, alongside the Laurel Oaks community, and 38 of the 102 in the smaller one are condominium records too, in Concept II South, Somerset View, Waterfront Gardens, Coral Court II and Cape Villas. A single lifted notice therefore reaches a good many more households than an address count of buildings would suggest, and anyone in a shared building who was boiling on a neighbour's word rather than on the map can stop on the same basis. The instruction applies by polygon and not by street name, so the city's own map remains the only thing that settles a specific address either way. Both notices came down faster than the city's own typical run, which is worth stating because the length of these things is routinely read as a measure of how bad the problem was, and it is not. Against the city's 2026 archive of 165 notices carrying both a break and a lift stamp, the median run is 48.9 hours. The larger area ran 47.9 hours, which 70 of those 165, or 42 percent, beat. The smaller ran 44.4 hours, and only 21 of them, 13 percent, cleared faster than that. What a run length actually measures is a repair followed by a laboratory queue: the city's published standard for lifting a notice is two consecutive days of satisfactory bacteriological results from the Lee County Health Department, so a notice that runs two days is a notice that cleared as soon as the testing allowed. Four areas are still live elsewhere in Cape Coral and nothing here changes them. They are 1957 Diplomat Parkway East at 47.23 acres, 2213 SE 10th Avenue at 45.51, 428 Hancock Bridge Parkway at 33.92 and 3622 SE 5th Court at 22.93, and every one of them still carries a null lift date on the city's map this morning. Households inside those four should keep boiling tap water at a rolling boil for one minute before drinking it, cooking with it, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes until the city clears them. There is also a planned shutdown on the calendar for this morning, at 4620 SE 5th Place, stamped for about ten past ten, with two more to come at 1019 SE 43rd Street tomorrow morning and 1108 SE 39th Terrace on August 18. A household inside one of those shapes should expect to be boiling from that morning whatever the active count is by then. Lee County Utilities is a different system with a different map, and a Cape Coral headline does not reach its customers. It has one notice in force, on Wittman Drive in the McGregor area south of Fort Myers, unchanged since this site reported it at six o'clock this morning and still carrying no lift date. Cape Coral customers who want their own address settled against a live source can use the city's map rather than a street name, and the wider budget picture is unchanged: the city logged 33 water main breaks in July, its heaviest month of 2026, on a system whose owner is setting the FY2027 budget having already voted a maximum millage cap.

The city rescinded the larger area, a 42.83 acre shape around a main break at 909 Cape Coral Parkway West, at 7.15.59. It rescinded the 9.74 acre corridor beside it at 7.16.14.

That takes the city's map from six active areas to four.

The two shapes are separate rather than overlapping. Run against the city's own address layer, the larger holds 367 active address points and the smaller 102, with no point falling inside both, so the two counts add up to 469 rather than double counting the same households.

Skyline Boulevard alone accounts for 155 of the points in the larger area, with 87 on Southwest 47th Terrace and 65 on Cape Coral Parkway West. In the smaller corridor, 96 of the 102 are on Southwest 47th Terrace.

Neither figure is a count of houses. Ninety two of the points in the larger area are condominium records, in buildings the city lists as Malabar, Belvedere, Palm Breeze, Casa Del Sol, Baruna Bay and Skyline Manor, alongside the Laurel Oaks community. Another 38 in the smaller one sit in Concept II South, Somerset View, Waterfront Gardens, Coral Court II and Cape Villas.

Both notices were rescinded rather than deleted. Each record moved off the city's active layer and on to its rescind layer carrying an explicit lift timestamp, and the city's separate open data archive returns the same two records with the same stamps. That distinction matters here. This site reported on August 2 that three Fort Myers areas vanished from a different utility's layer with no rescission recorded anywhere, so a notice disappearing from a map is not on its own evidence that it was lifted.

Measured from the city's own break stamps, the larger area ran 47.9 hours and the smaller 44.4.

Both beat the city's typical run. Cape Coral's 2026 archive holds 165 notices carrying both a break and a lift stamp, at a median of 48.9 hours. Seventy of them, 42 percent, cleared faster than the larger area did. Only 21, 13 percent, cleared faster than the smaller.
