The City of Cape Coral opened a new precautionary boil water area near 612 SE 1st Avenue after a water main break Thursday morning.
The city logged the area at about 10:39 a.m. Its active map identifies drinking water as affected and carries no rescission date.
What residents should do
Bring tap water to a rolling boil for one minute before drinking it, cooking with it, making ice, preparing drinks or baby bottles, rinsing food, brushing teeth or washing dishes. Bottled water is an alternative.
Cape Coral says the precaution mainly applies to water that is swallowed. Showering and laundry are not restricted.
The city publishes a mapped boundary rather than a street list or household count. Anyone near 612 SE 1st Avenue should check the city map to see whether the notice covers the property.
The notice stays in place until the city posts a rescission.
