Cape Coral police say a citywide impaired-driving operation produced 71 citations and three DUI arrests

Cape Coral police say a citywide impaired-driving operation Friday night produced 93 traffic stops, 71 citations and three DUI arrests.

The department's published results say the operation ran from 6 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday. Officers issued 23 speeding citations, 23 seatbelt citations and 10 citations for distracted driving, according to the department.

Police also recorded 40 warnings and four criminal citations. The department says an FDOT subgrant paid for the operation.

The operation had ended before this brief was published. It is not an active traffic closure or emergency and is not marked as breaking.
