What it changes

Households inside the Fairmont Cove Court polygon can stop boiling. The city has rescinded the notice, which means it has taken and cleared the bacteriological samples that a precautionary notice waits on, and tap water in that area is again for drinking, cooking, ice, brushing teeth and washing dishes without treatment. Two areas are still under a notice and their residents should keep boiling for one minute: 3168 Estancia Lane, running since Saturday morning, and 213 SW 43rd Street, logged on Sunday morning. Those two polygons cover about 565,000 square feet, roughly thirteen acres, down from about twenty three acres when three were active at dawn. The instruction applies by polygon and not by street name, so an address a block outside a boundary is not covered and one inside it is, whatever street the break itself was on. The city draws these as shapes and publishes no street list, so the map remains the only thing that answers the question for a specific address. The length of this one is the part worth keeping. The Fairmont Cove Court notice ran seventy five hours, from Thursday mid morning to Sunday early afternoon, and this site reported it at sixty nine hours on Sunday morning while it was still in force. Against the city's own 2026 archive, that is slow but not unusual. Of the 156 notices logged this year that carry both a break date and a rescind date, the median runs 49.1 hours, 91 of them ran past forty eight hours, 38 ran past seventy two, and 31, one in five, ran longer than this one did. So a resident who lands inside one of these polygons should plan for two to four days rather than expect a next day lift, and the two still active are at about thirty and about eight hours as of Sunday afternoon, which places both nearer the start of that band than the end. This site has been correcting its own earlier framing on that point, having previously described a forty nine hour notice as sitting at the top of the city's normal range when the archive puts it in the middle. Nothing about this rescission changes the reason the notices keep coming. Cape Coral logged thirty three water main breaks in July, its heaviest month of the year, and the SW 43rd Street record is the second August entry. The city council is setting the FY2027 budget having already voted a maximum millage cap, and the pipe replacement and utilities extension programme that sits behind these breaks is the spending line that decides whether next July looks like this one. One caution about reading the map yourself. Only layer 0 answers what is currently in force. Six records with a 2026 break date carry no rescind date while not appearing on the active layer at all, the oldest dated March 16, so the archive is sound for counting breaks and measuring how long they run and is not a list of what is live.

Both reads returned the same result. Layer 0, 'Active Boil Water Area', returned two features, down from the three this site recorded at 7.10 a.m. the same morning: 3168 ESTANCIA LN, GISID 2824, BREAK_DATE August 1, 2026 at 9.29.21 a.m., interruption hour fields reading 11 PM, polygon area 193,830 square feet; and 213 SW 43RD ST, GISID 2825, BREAK_DATE August 2 at 6.52.46 a.m., interruption hour fields reading 7 PM, 370,937 square feet. Both carry RESCIND_DATE null. The third, 2623 FAIRMONT COVE CT, GISID 2823, has moved to layer 1, 'Stop Boil - Rescind Area', and now carries RESCIND_DATE August 2, 2026 at 1.07.28 p.m. against BREAK_DATE July 30 at 10.09.27 a.m., a run of 75.0 hours, polygon area 455,559 square feet. It is the newest record on that layer, which held eleven. Layer 2, hydrant flushing, and layer 3, scheduled shutdown, both returned zero. Times are the city's own epoch millisecond fields converted to Eastern; where the interruption hour and AM or PM text fields disagree with the epoch interruption stamp, this site reports the text fields, as it did on August 2, because those are what the city displays. Duration context is computed from the city's separate OpenData Utilities service, layer 2, 'Boil Notice Areas', at the same host, queried for every record with a break date in 2026: 164 records, of which 156 now carry both a break date and a rescind date, one more pair than on Sunday morning because of this rescission. Collier County Public Utilities' 'Boil Water Notices View' layer was read at the same time and returned no current notice; its two records flagged Active are dated February 2024 and February 2025 with an end date equal to their start date and a type of 'Emergency Shut Down - No Boil Water Order', which are archive artefacts rather than anything in force. Fort Myers' boil water notice area layer was also read and returned zero features, with its lastEditDate unchanged at 10.13 a.m. Eastern on August 2, so nothing there has moved since that edit..
