Goodyear plans to close two US chemical plants and cut about 85 jobs
Goodyear plans to close chemical manufacturing facilities in Niagara Falls, New York, and Bayport, Texas, under a restructuring plan approved September 29.
About 85 jobs are affected.
The tire maker expects to complete the closures by the end of 2027 and record $55 million to $75 million in pre-tax charges. Approximately $30 million of that amount is expected to involve cash, mainly for decommissioning, employee-related costs and other exit expenses.
Goodyear estimates the plan will improve annual operating income in its Americas segment by $15 million to $20 million beginning in 2027. Those figures remain estimates, and most cash outflows are expected by the end of that year.
