U.S. median family net worth rose 2 percent as under-35 wealth fell 23 percent
Two percent.
That was the increase in real median family net worth from 2022 to 2025, to $215,900, in the Federal Reserve's new Survey of Consumer Finances. Real mean net worth rose 7 percent to $1.24m.
The age split went the other way. Median net worth fell 23 percent to $33,000 for families younger than 35, while it rose 37 percent for families older than 75. The Fed attributed the younger group's decline primarily to an unwinding of business-equity gains recorded between 2019 and 2022.
Real median family income rose 7 percent. Median wealth in the lowest usual-income quintile fell 6 percent, while the top decile gained 31 percent to $3.67m.
