The call was logged at 6.27 this morning, and the state's note against it then read roadblock on Palm Beach Boulevard. At 6.47 that note changed. It now reads that the right lane of Palm Beach Boulevard is blocked because of the crash.
So the full closure has eased to a single lane. The call is still open on the board.
This item published a few minutes earlier on the 6.27 record and has been corrected here, rather than left standing, because the state moved while it was going out.
Why the location matters
Palm Beach Boulevard is the corridor carrying State Road 80, the main road east out of Fort Myers through Olga and Alva toward LaBelle. At Alva it has no close parallel, so anything that narrows it there does not divert onto the next street the way a city closure does. That is why a single blocked lane still matters here in a way it would not in town.
The timing compounds it. A quarter to half past six is the front of the morning peak on a road that brings commuters into Fort Myers from the eastern edge of Lee County and from Hendry County beyond it.
What the state has not said
The board types the incident as a crash with injuries. It does not type it as a fatality.
