FHP booked a moped rider after a Fort Myers pursuit ended near a golf course

Carson Zorn at Gulf Coast News reported Thursday that Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested a moped rider after a Wednesday night pursuit from State Road 82 into a Fort Myers neighborhood. Zorn, citing FHP, reported that troopers found the abandoned moped and a stolen handgun on a golf course before locating the rider.

Lee County Sheriff's Office booking records independently show an overnight booking by FHP and 12 listed charges across two case numbers. They include allegations of high-speed fleeing, DUI, reckless driving, grand theft of a firearm and using a weapon during a felony. The records showed the person in custody Thursday morning. The charges are accusations and have not been adjudicated.
