Attorney General's Office says three Lee and Collier residents face voter-fraud charges
The Florida Attorney General's Office says three Lee and Collier County residents, from Lehigh Acres, Fort Myers and Naples, face charges tied to a statewide election operation announced September 24. The Florida Attorney General's Office says three residents of Lee and Collier counties face felony charges in a statewide election operation announced September 24.
The office identifies them as Astrid Shamatu Navarrete Quintana, 24, of Fort Myers; Kadian Gabrielle Amai Johnson, 29, of Lehigh Acres; and Manon M. Raux, 62, of Naples.
According to the Attorney General's release, each is charged with one count of unqualified noncitizen elector willfully voting and one count of false swearing. The release describes both as third-degree felonies.
The office says its statewide operation covers 20 defendants and that 12 had been arrested when the release was issued. The Office of Statewide Prosecution will handle cases that span multiple judicial circuits.
The release does not include court case numbers, arrest affidavits or hearing dates for the three local defendants. It also does not provide a separate account of the evidence for each person beyond the state's allegation that each voted while ineligible.
A criminal charge is an accusation. Quintana, Johnson and Raux are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
