Crescent Beach Family Park on Fort Myers Beach reopens Wednesday after a $1.3 million rebuild funded by FEMA, impact fees and tourist tax

Crescent Beach Family Park on Fort Myers Beach is set to reopen at sunrise Wednesday, July 29, after a $1.3 million restoration of a beachfront park that Hurricane Ian damaged. Derrick Shaw reported the reopening for Gulf Coast News.

According to Lee County Parks and Recreation, contractors began removing construction fencing at the park on Monday, but the county asked visitors to stay out until the official reopening on Wednesday morning while final work is completed. The park sits at 1100 Estero Blvd.

The project restored the park and added accessibility features and visitor amenities. Lee County listed shade structures and utility connections for an ADA-compliant modular restroom facility, integrated bike racks, a picnic area, a landscaped pedestrian path, and four beach access points, one of which is an ADA-accessible beach access route.

Lee County said the work was funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Regional Park impact fees and Tourist Development Taxes through the Beach and Shoreline Program. Lee County Commissioner David Mulicka, who represents District 3 including Fort Myers Beach and serves as vice chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, said in a statement that the reopening is one milestone among more to come as the county's beach parks reopen with what he described as resilient amenities.

The restoration has been in progress since the start of the year. The Lee Board of County Commissioners awarded the $1.3 million construction contract to Vantage Construction Services in December 2025, and work began in January, as WGCU reported at the time, with completion then expected in the summer.
