The National Weather Service placed coastal Lee County under a High Surf Advisory through 8 a.m. Saturday.
Forecasters expect large breaking waves and dangerous rip currents. The advisory says the surf could cause localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions.
A paired Rip Current Statement remains in effect through 8 p.m. Saturday.
The Weather Service advises swimming near a lifeguard. Anyone caught in a rip current should relax and float rather than swim against it, move in a direction following the shoreline if able, and face the shore and call or wave for help if unable to escape.
The products also cover coastal Charlotte, Sarasota and Manatee counties. They do not order beaches closed.
