St. Petersburg governor reports fires at oil terminal and Ruchi depot
Emergency crews were fighting fires at the Petersburg Oil Terminal and Ruchi oil depot on Sunday morning, St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said in a 9:19 a.m. Moscow time update. He also reported fires at industrial warehouses in the Kolpino district.
Oil-facility damage was not quantified. Beglov did not specify which oil-storage equipment was affected or whether shipments had stopped, leaving the effect on fuel operations unclear.
His update said 12 apartment buildings and two private houses had been damaged elsewhere in the city. Residents evacuated overnight were returning, he said, while restoration work and the emergency command operation continued.
