South Korea sets seven rules for AI use in national research

Seven checks now frame AI use in South Korea's national research programs. The Ministry of Science and ICT released a 54-page research ethics guide Sunday after advisory council approval.

AI remains a tool under the guide. Researchers keep responsibility and rights for the final work. They are told to verify facts, make their own judgments, disclose the model, version, purpose and scope, explain results, follow rules, protect security and shield personal data.

Evaluators are told not to upload proposals, reports or papers to outside AI services. The guide also says concealed prompts used to distort review can be treated as research misconduct under existing law.
