eBay will cut about 9 percent of its workforce and says third-quarter results beat its own guidance
eBay is cutting about 9 percent of its global workforce. The company announced the restructuring on Tuesday and set out its terms in a Form 8-K filed with the SEC on Thursday morning, saying the aim is to point its teams and spending at its main strategic priorities.
The filing puts the cost at $130m to $150m before tax. Almost all of it is severance and post-employment benefits, paid in cash, and most will be booked in the fourth quarter. eBay expects the cuts to be largely complete by the end of the first quarter of 2027, subject to local law and consultation requirements in some countries. It gives no headcount.
The same filing carries a second disclosure. eBay expects third-quarter results above the guidance ranges it issued in August, though it gives no figures, and says the savings from the plan will go back into its strategic and operating initiatives.
