South Korea's land ministry selected 840 property transactions involving foreign buyers for investigation, covering reported deals from June 2025 through July 2026.
That is 235 more than the 605 transactions selected in 2025. The release says investigators will use data added under a February rule change, including proceeds from stocks, bonds or cryptocurrency, loans from foreign financial institutions and visa status.
The review began in August. It is due to finish in December.
Officials will examine sources of funds and compliance with owner-occupancy rules in land-transaction permit zones. Selection for review does not establish a violation.
