Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation said 12 people died and 309 were injured in Saturday's attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

Four of the dead were Saudi citizens. The others were two Bangladeshi residents and one resident each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.

The follow-up statement says some injuries are critical and the injured are receiving care at several hospitals. Property damage is still being assessed.

In its initial statement, the authority temporarily suspended airport operations while officials assessed damage and inspected the facilities. Neither statement identifies who carried out the attack or gives a reopening time.
